Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups crushed vanilla wafers or graham crackers
  • 1 cup powdered sugar plus extra for coating
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts pecans or walnuts work well
  • 1/3 cup dark or spiced rum
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • Optional coatings: powdered sugar cocoa powder, shredded coconut, or sprinkles

Instructions
 

1. Prepare the Crumb Mixture

  • Crush the cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a resealable bag and crushing with a rolling pin.
  • In a large bowl, mix the crushed cookies, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and chopped nuts.

2. Add the Rum and Milk

  • Gradually add the rum and sweetened condensed milk to the dry mixture. Stir until a dough forms. The texture should be moist enough to hold its shape but not overly sticky.

3. Roll into Balls

  • Scoop out small portions of the mixture (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll them into balls using your hands.

4. Coat the Balls

  • Roll the balls in your choice of coating, such as powdered sugar, cocoa powder, shredded coconut, or sprinkles.

5. Chill

  • Place the coated rum balls on a tray and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to firm up.
